Recently Jingtian & Gongcheng and Beijing Legal Aid Foundation (LAF) signed an agreement to create the “ West China Attorney Legal Training Program”.
Instituted and organized by Beijing LAF, the program was sponsored by a team of 10 legal firms. The proposal serves entry-level and legal aid government lawyers from 11 provinces and districts including Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Xizang, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and the Xinjiang Construction Regime. For the next five years, 50 attorneys each year from the above regions will be invited to attend a legal training seminar of one month in Beijing.
To support this program each of the ten firms such as Jingtian & Gongcheng, King & Wood Mallesons, Jun He and Zhong Lun donated RMB 400 thousand to develop the philanthropic project in addition to each taking responsibility for five lawyers’ training.
A leading law firm, Jingtian & Gongcheng, being socially responsible, is dedicated to furthering social welfare program development. Besides this legal training for lawyers in West China, the law firm has also been engaged in other Aiding West China efforts including legal aid to Ruoergai district in Sichuan and “Tackle Poverty, Pass on Love” charitable activities in Guizhou.
The grant ceremony was held at Beijing Justice Bureau, and was attended by Yanzhen Zhang — former Deputy Minister of Justice Bureau of China and Chairman of China Legal Aid Foundation, Zhanshan Hu--Secretary-General of China Legal Aid Foundation, Lin Miao—Party Secretary and Chief of Beijing Justice Bureau. Yan Ma --Deputy Chief of Beijing Justice Bureau presided over the ceremony, Xuebing Zhang--Chairman of Beijing Legal Aid Foundation addressed the meeting and Da Li—Managing Partner of Jingtian & Gongcheng signed the grant agreement on behalf of the firm.
Jingtian & Gongcheng staff all look forward to meeting the first group of fellow legal professionals from West China and hope to raise the legal service level through learning from one another and sharing with one another.
