Sichuan Tongxin • Lawyers Service Group Ruoergai sub-division formed by Jingtian & Gongcheng (Chengdu) and Sichuan Tiantian Law Firm started off from Chengdu on September 8, 2015, and headed for Ruoergai County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province for a four-day Tibet legal aid event. The event was fully participated by lawyer Diao Hong, partner of Jingtian & Gongcheng, acting as Deputy Head of the sub-division.
During the four-day event, the sub-division first held a juvenile legal education auditorium at Ruoergai Middle School. Ren Zhe, a young member of Jingtian & Gongcheng (Chengdu), delivered a vivid and detailed explanation to the students of Ruoergai Middle School around the Minors Protection Law, Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Law and Criminal Law. Lawyer Diao Hong received an interview with the local media after the lecture, and said: "lawyers have the obligation to participate in such counterpart legal aid events. In the course of future legal aids, Tongxin Lawyers Service Group will strengthen communication with the relevant departments of the counterpart county, and carry out legal services according to local conditions and situations."
Later, the sub-division went to Gerdi Temple in Namu and Xiangduo Village in Re'er Township for research and condolence. In the afternoon of September 10, the sub-division held a symposium with the Bureau of Justice and other relevant departments of Ruoergai County. The members of the Lawyers Service Group discussed the legal problems encountered by the government in the course of administration according to law, the conflict of current law in settling disputes in traditional ethnic areas, etc. and reached a consensus on the contents, forms, methods and priorities of legal services. Both law firms have expressed their willingness to provide internship, promotion and training opportunities for law workers in Ruoergai County and to provide legal aid for individual cases.
Though short in time, this event is in rich in content and is the first concrete action that Jingtian & Gongcheng (Chengdu) and Sichuan Tiantian Law Firm have voluntarily taken to serve the ethnic areas and poverty-stricken areas. All members of Tongxin Lawyers Group Ruoergai sub-division will continue to participate in social practice and public welfare activities to display the expertise and professional advantages of lawyers and become warm law workers in this new era.
