Jingtian & Gongcheng today announced that Hong Kong Senior Partner, Elaine Lo, has received the 2021 Medal of Honour from the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). She currently serves as the Managing Partner of Jingtian & Gongcheng’s Hong Kong Office. Previously, Elaine served as the Asia Chair and Senior Partner of an international law firm, and on that firm’s Global Management Committee.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Honours and Awards System was first introduced during the establishment of the HKSAR on 1 July 1997 to provide recognition to persons who have made an outstanding contribution to Hong Kong, or have rendered distinguished and devoted community or public service to Hong Kong, or who have personally excelled in their respective fields. Elaine was recognized for her “dedicated and valuable community service, particularly her advice on civil service pay and conditions of service.”

Elaine continues to actively participate in public service. She has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR to various Government advisory and statutory bodies, including (among others) as a member of the Independent Commission on Remuneration for Members of the Executive Council and the Legislature, and Officials under the Political Appointment System of the HKSAR, the Advisory Committee on Post-office Employment for Former Chief Executives and Politically Appointed Officials of the HKSAR, the Independent Commission on Remuneration for Members of the District Councils of the HKSAR, the Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service of the HKSAR, the Women's Commission, the Economic Development Commission’s Working Group for Professional Services, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council's Professional Services Advisory Committee. Elaine also serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Urban Renewal Authority in Hong Kong.
Elaine is qualified and admitted as solicitor in Hong Kong, England and Wales, Singapore, and Australia. She focuses on foreign direct investment, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, structuring joint ventures, technology transfers and corporate restructuring. In addition, she is a China Appointed Attesting Officer (appointed by the Ministry of Justice of PRC).
Elaine has also been widely recognized by various legal directories, including as an Eminent Practitioner in Corporate/M&A by Chambers Asia Pacific in 2014. She has also been named as Managing Partner of the Year by Asian Legal Business Awards in 2008, 2009 and 2015.
