On August 5, 2019, at the 1st International Mediation Singapore (IMSG 2020), the "Mediation Works" team–consisting of Xiaolu Ren from Jingtian & Gongcheng’s Dispute Resolution practice and her teammate Ariunsanaa Batbaatar from Mongolia secured five wins in the simulated mediation, garnering high acclaim from the organizing committee and the jury. Among all the participants, our firm ranked first and claimed the gold medal.

The competition seeks to commemorate the signing of the Singapore Convention on Mediation on August 7, 2019. The convention aims to promote the use of mediation to resolve cross-border commercial disputes by enhancing the enforceability of international mediated settlement agreements. The first 46 signatories include China, Singapore, and the U.S. The convention will promote the effective settlement of cross-border disputes alongside the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards and the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Civil or Commercial Matters.
