Victor Wang focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital financing, foreign direct investment, and international business transactions.
Victor advises leading international and Chinese private equity/venture capital investors and multi-national corporations on their investments, acquisitions and divestments in the Greater China region. These exercises range from real estate and distressed asset deals to transactions in the telecommunications, media, technology, biotech/life science, pharmaceutical and consumer product industries. Mr. Wang has had significant experience in cross-border transactions, particularly in representing many Fortune 500 companies with respect to their direct investments in China. He also has considerable experience representing international underwriters and Asian issuers in their global share offerings, as well as acting for Chinese companies in their outbound investments.
Prior to joining Jingtian, Victor has worked at another leading Chinese law firm for over 17 years since 2001. Before that, Victor worked in Hong Kong with a major New York law firm and a top UK “magic circle” firm, where he represented many multinational corporations and investment funds in establishing joint venture companies and making acquisitions in the PRC and other Asian countries. From 1999 to 2000, he was in-house counsel at a major Asian TV and media group where he oversaw legal affairs arising from the company’s Hong Kong IPO and global placement exercises. Prior to his pursuit of further legal education in the United States in 1989 as a Ford Foundation Fellow, Victor was a research fellow at a well-known Shanghai-based think tank, while concurrently worked part-time as a lawyer at them well-known Shanghai-based law firm.
Victor is consistently and consecutively recognized by legal industry publications such as Chambers Asia and IFLR as one of the leading M&A, corporate and private equity lawyers in China.
Victor received an LL.B. from Fudan University (1984), an LL.M from the Shanghai Institute of Law (1987), an LL.M. from the University of Iowa Law School (1991) and a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School (1996). He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Wisconsin State Bar Association and is a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong.
