William has more than twenty-five years of experiences advising clients on dispute resolution (including litigation and arbitration) and corporate matters. He has particular experiences in handling commercial contracts disputes, shareholder’s dispute, disputes in connection with M & A, joint venture, corporate governance, construction, real estate and energy projects. William is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and on the panels of arbitrators at a number of arbitration institutions (including Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration, Shenzhen Court of International Commercial Arbitration, Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and Shanghai Arbitration Commission etc.). As a sole arbitrator and presiding arbitrator, he has handled more than one hundred cases in a wide variety of areas, such as construction, joint venture, distribution agreement, merger & acquisition etc. He has frequently been engaged to render expert reports on PRC laws in foreign courts and arbitration proceedings (e.g., the High Court of Hong Kong, Ontario Securities Commission, Ontario Superior Court and Hong Kong International Arbitration Center).

 

William has practiced at international law firms (including a UK “Magical Circle” law firm) as well as Chinese law firms, and has been exposed to clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Yet he also has in-depth local knowledge, expertise and experiences (including experience dealing with government authorities). He has maintained good working relationship with the relevant government authorities and has often assisted different governments departments in drafting and commenting on regulations and policies, and evaluating the legality and feasibility of making and implementation of government policies.

 

He has continuously been ranked by Legal Band as “Top 10” lawyers (Government and Regulatory Affairs) and by Benchmark as “Litigation Star” since 2019. 

 

William also advise clients on general corporate matters, merger & acquisition, in particular cross-border investment, construction, energy and infrastructure projects.

 

William received his LL.B. degree and LL.M. degree in China and his J.D. degree (with honors) from Bond University, Australia. He is admitted in China and NSW, Australia. His working languages are English and Chinese.
