Shanghai, China, July 13, 2018 – Jingtian & Gongcheng successfully held a public seminar “Jingtian & Gongcheng Mega Asset Management Seminar Series—Business Opportunities and Risks of Asset Securitization under the New Regulations of Asset Management”. The main speakers, Ms. Wenran Wu--Director of Compliance and Law at Haitong Securities Limited and two partners from Jingtian & Gongcheng: Maoxian Qing and Shiqi Sun attracted a large group of financing professionals from well-known asset management companies, securities firms and banks.
Taking up the roles of corporate director of compliance, non-litigation lawyer and litigation lawyer respectively, Ms Wenran Wu, Maoxian Qing and Shiqi Sun explained their understanding of asset securitization under the new regulation. Ms. Wu used her own experience to make a thorough investigation on how a manager should treat different business customers, how to define the manager’s responsibility at each step as well as how to set the boundary of a manager’s duty so as not to trespass beyond it. Maoxian Qing from Jingtian & Gongcheng shed the light on the current difficult situation for “non-standardized debt assets” to finance and he also shared the channels to securitize the asset by standardizing the “non-standard”; therefore, he offered a new way for audiences to think about the angle of deal structure. Shiqi Sun, also from Jingtian & Gongcheng, with seasoned experience of financial security litigation arbitration, showed how to protect the original right owner’s rights in an asset securitization dispute and provided the audiences with very practical and effective advice.
The seminar was followed by a “Q & A” session, in which attending guests raised topic-related questions about the challenges and problems in their own work and had very satisfying exchanges with the three speakers: Ms. Wenran Wu, Maoxian Qing and Shiqi Sun.
After the session, all the audience gave very positive feedback and highly favorable comments about the content and format.
