Ueda Yagi Tanshi Co., Ltd. (Ueda Yagi Tanshi) received regulatory approval from the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) on September 3, 2020 to establish a new company in China. Ueda Yagi Tanshi will be the sixth and the first wholly foreign-owned brokerage company in China.
Headquartered in Tokyo and Osaka, Ueda Yagi Tanshi was founded in June 1918. Over the past century, the company has accumulated deep experience in money broking, covering inter-bank money markets, foreign exchange markets and debt capital markets. As a bridge linking financial institutions, the company has played an important role in supporting the base of the Japanese financial markets. The company, which opened the Shanghai Representative Office in 1996, is highly familiar with the Chinese market for 24 years and capable of running an exclusively-owned, money brokerage company in China. The establishment of the new company is based on the company's recognition of China's financial opening policy and the further growth potential of the Chinese financial market.
Jingtian & Gongcheng's legal team provided one-stop, end-to-end legal services for the application of Ueda Yagi Tanshi to CBIRC in establishing a money brokerage company, including architecture design, legal due diligence and providing legal opinions. We are pleased to have helped our client achieve their objectives in spite of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and we look forward to strengthening our relationship with Ueda Yagi Tanshi.
