Mr. Zhang Lei is a partner at Jingtian & Gongcheng and currently practices in the firm’s banking and finance department. Mr. Zhang has been practicing law for more than 15 years. Before joining Jingtian & Gongcheng, Mr. Zhang worked at a Magic Circle firm and other PRC firms for many years. 
 
Mr. Zhang specializes in banking and finance, including syndicated loans, bilateral loans, acquisition finance, project finance, export credit, disposal of non-performing loans, bankruptcy and insolvency as well as financial regulation and compliance, etc. Mr. Zhang regularly advises Chinese banks, foreign banks and corporate clients, and most of his transactions involve a cross-border aspect.
 
Mr. Zhang has focused his practice on banking and finance, with extensive experience and a well-established reputation in cross-border financing transactions, which involve more than 50 jurisdictions around the globe, including Egypt, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Kenya, Congo (Brazzaville), DR Congo (Kinshasa), Zambia, Nigeria, Eritrea, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Brunei, Maldives, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, U.K., France, Italy, Luxemburg, Poland, Australia, U.S., Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Argentina, Ecuador, BVI, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Hong Kong and Macau etc.
 
Mr. Zhang has published articles in several journals. He is invited to contribute to China Chapter of Chambers Global Practice Guides: Project Finance, China Chapter of The Legal 500: Lending & Secured Finance Country Comparative Guide as well as Thomson Reuters: Banking Regulation in China Overview. 
 
Mr. Zhang is engaged as an adjunct professor at Renmin University of China Law School, and is listed in Beijing Foreign-related Lawyer Talent Pool.
 
Mr. Zhang obtained his LL.B. and LL.M. from Renmin University of China. 
 
Mr. Zhang is qualified to practice PRC laws and is a member of the All-China Lawyers Association.
