Jingtian & Gongcheng Hosts “Latest Developments and Solutions to Commercial Bribery” in Beijing

On July 13, 2017, Jingtian & Gongcheng, Lexis Nexis and PWC successfully held a seminar on “latest Development and Solutions to Commercial Bribery” in Shanghai. To satisfy the demands by the Beijing clients, the three organizations held, on August 25, a seminar in Beijing on the same topic. Personnel of legal, compliance, finance, internal control departments from over 100 companies participated in the seminar, and not a single chair was vacant in the meeting room. Questions were asked and interactions were heated.

 

Partner Hu Zhiqiang from the Shanghai office of Jingtian & Gongcheng delivered an excellent speech on the “latest legislation of commercial bribery, enforcement situation and studies”. Based upon his extensive professional experiences on compliance, he shared with the audience the latest development and many misunderstandings on the identification of commercial bribery. He highlighted several recent cases of commercial bribery punishments by the State Administration of Commerce and Industry, and proposed practical and effective solutions.

 

Mr. Hu Zhiqiang is among the first professional lawyers on compliance in China. Because of his composite knowledge and experience in law, tax and accounting, Mr. Hu can provide professional opinions and solutions from difference perspectives, which is more comprehensive and practical compared with the single legal or tax perspective. His composite background is helpful to discover during investigation improper accounting handlings and to pursue hidden bribery or other illegal payments. He can also help to handle finance and tax properly so as to avoid compliance concerns in internal control. In defense, his litigation experience is very useful in collecting evidence, communicating with government agencies and defense.
